#149 – Safety

In the more hardware-oriented industries where manufacturing is a step in delivering a product, physical safety is usually of high priority. In these companies, Management cannot emphasize enough how important it is to wear helmets, safety shoes and so on. Even in the company offices, far away from the manufacturing facilities, physical safety precautions, like mandating people to use the staircase handrails, are enforced to bring physical safety to the top of mind of employees.

If only Psychological Safety was perceived as being equally as important, and initiatives were put in place to increase it, both the mental well-being of the employees and the probability of successfully going agile would skyrocket. At least, start by self-assessing it—what’re you waiting for?
