#128 – Celebration
If we’re trying to transform our organization into an agile one, we shouldn’t celebrate passing implicit gates, such as finishing the description of requirements, testing, integration or a big bang release, as if those milestones are successes. In agile, we want to build all of those phases into our vertically sliced, releasable PBIs (such as Features), so why not rather celebrate when a PBI is adopted by the customer, instead?
So, we’re not saying that you shouldn’t celebrate entirely. If you have really struggled and put in an enormous effort to produce the requirements specification and passed an important milestone, it does call for a collective celebration—unless you’re trying to work agile, that is.
