The Comic Agilé Workshop

How’s your organisational change really going? And how can you improve it?

Some time ago, you introduced a significant change to your organisation, such as:

  • a reorganisation
  • goal-setting with OKRs
  • a new Target Operating Model
  • poroduct-centricity
  • descaling of your scaled agile setup
  • or any other change impacting all your teams.

Now, you want to assess its progress, success and benefit realisation. Instead of hiring an expensive consultancy that delivers generic reports filled with BS, wouldn’t you prefer a practical, honest and actionable view of the reality directly from the people who have actually implemented and experienced the change? Sure, you do, so you put them in representative, cross-organisational groups and you ask them to join the Comic Agilé workshop.

Workshop participants will learn:

  • How to reflect on the original goals of the change and pinpoint obstacles.
  • Effective storytelling techniques to communicate organisational challenges using the Comic Agilé approach.
  • How to present challenges, root causes, and solutions to decision-makers in a concise, humorous and visual way.

The workshop process:

  1. Reiterate the change: The facilitator reiterates the original intention and nature of the change.
  2. Identify challenges individually: Participants write down aspects of the change that aren’t working or are hindering the expected benefits.
  3. Group discussion: In diverse groups of 4-6 people, participants share their challenges and agree on the most significant one.
  4. Storytelling through comic strips: With guidance from Comic Agilé writer, Luxshan, each group creates a comic strip that humorously depicts their challenge, using the Comic Agilé storytelling structure.
  5. Comic creation: Groups finalise their comic strips, ensuring a clear challenge, story arc, punchline and four simple panels.
  6. Root-cause discussion and solution generation: Groups discuss the underlying causes of their challenge and identify realistic solutions.
  7. Presentation and feedback: Groups share their comics, root-causes, and proposed solutions, receiving feedback from others.
  8. Actionable takeaways: The facilitator collects all comic strips for further use, such as stakeholder presentations or improvement backlogs.

Take-away:

  • A collection of custom Comic Agilé strips (one per group) highlighting real challenges that hinder your organisational change.

  • A description of the symptom of the change not working, its potential root-cause and a realistic solution to it.
